OIL JUG RIDDLE
There are a 5-liter jug and a 7-liter jug, and as much oil as you need. How can you measure out correctly 6 liters using only these two jugs?
SOLUTION:
- Now, we have a 5-liter jug and a 7-liter jug and we can take the oil that we need.
- First, fill the oil in the 7-liter jug and pour this into the 5-liter jug and 2 liters are still remaining in the 7-liter jug.
- Then, empty out the 5-liter jug and pour the remaining 2-liter oil from the 7-liter jug into the 5-liter jug. Now, 2 liters are remaining in the 5-liter jug and the 7-liter jug is empty.
- Again, fill the oil in the 7-liter jug and pour the oil from the 7-liter jug into the 5-liter jug. Now, the 5-liter jug is fully filled and the 7-liter jug contains 4 liters of oil.
- Again, empty out the 5-liter jug and pour the 4 liters of oil from the 7-liter jug into the 5-liter jug.
- Now, there are 4 liters of oil in the 5-liter jug and the 7-liter jug is empty.
- Refill the oil in the 7-liter jug.
- Now, a 5-liter jug contains 4 liters of oil and a 7-liter jug contains 7 liters of oil.
- Fill the 5-liter jug fully by pouring the oil from the 7-liter jug into the 5-liter jug and the 5-liter jug is fully filled.
- ✌✌Finally, the 7-liter jug exactly contains 6 liters of oil.✌✌
