TELEOPERATION AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE
|
Hello guys. Actually, you will be amazed if we tell you
interesting information about vehicle operators including car driving
and heavy-lift vehicle driving techniques in this blog. If you
love car driving and want to enjoy the driving experience at home
without going anywhere, you can play many car- games (Forza horizon, Asphalt, The Crew 2, F1 2020etc..) on the display by operating PC steering wheels, Pedals,
Shifters, and other game controllers. But, just imagine if you drive the
vehicles just by operating a remote controller in real life, how will
you feel that amazing experience? You can operate your vehicles
even at the home, and control at anywhere like playing games. It will be
the most effective secret technology that helps
driverless cars.

And also in the Hollywood movie(Iron man), Tony stark remotely controls his suit by using JARVIS.
Likewise, we can use this technology in real life. Now, your thought is to be like
it may possibly only in the future technology. But the future
technology is now. This technology
is Teleoperation. Now, let's know about this technology and its application in the real
life.

INTRODUCTION ABOUT TELEOPERATION:

Teleoperation (remote operation)is defined as
the technical word for the operation of a vehicle, machine, robot, or any
other system from a capable distance that ranges from centimeters to
kilometers. Teleoperations is an advanced technology in which remote
vehicles and robots are controlled by a human operator.
A teleoperation system that is transparent enables a
natural and intuitive interaction by using communication
signals. Teleoperation is the use of human operators, operating a station at a command and control
center, who can provide guidance or even operate autonomous vehicles,
robots, and any other systems from miles away.

Automated driving is a
disruptive technology is especially used to reduce driver's stress and work, energy
consumption, grant mobility to those without a driver’s license, and,
most importantly, raise safety drive. Autonomous vehicles are one of the more exciting technology-based
vehicles of the automotive industry today. The driver can handle other
matters of the vehicle at the control center anywhere by using a remote
control system while the car is driving by itself and this is starting
to become a reality with passenger cars, construction machines,
industrial vehicles, etc...

Autonomous vehicle by Teleoperation technology
|
Direct control (remote driving) is a word that describes a phenomenon when full control
of the Autonomous vehicle is given to the human teleoperator. Using
advanced remote control technology(4G/5G), the teleoperator performs all
processes of driving including steering, acceleration, and
braking.

In many cases, their purpose is not to transport the driver from
one point to another as in a car but instead perform tasks at a work site.
Even if the equipment in the vehicle can able to carry out the work
without support from an operator. For operating this kind of autonomous
vehicle, we need 360-degree supervision monitoring devices and remote controllers.
For this, to operate a system has to be designed, configured, and built as
a control center. In this control center, an operator can supervise the
vehicle and monitor the status of the vehicle at the monitor.
Many developing companies started to use autonomous vehicles based on
teleoperation technology.
-
Uber
is one of the developing companies that develop autonomous sidewalk-traversing robots for the delivery of goods.
-
Phantom Auto, a company founded in 2017 to build remote communication
software for operating robots by using direct control methods and
delivery robots to forklifts and yard trucks. Operators can use the
software to monitor the path of a robot.
-
The German startup Pylot designs an autonomous vehicle teleoperation software platform.
The startup uses virtual reality to provide human operators a full
view of autonomous vehicles.
-
Apple
is investing in research, testing, and acquisitions for autonomous
driving vehicles.
-
Autoliv is developing advanced autonomous airbags that adapt to the
interior of the autonomous vehicle and create autonomous cars
partnered with Volvo.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Teleoperation involved in vehicles is a huge
process, but now we simply discuss the huge process. let's
continue guys.

The vehicle used in
teleoperation has so many cameras around the vehicle, that vehicle transforms the
videos and audio as Livestream to the control room via server, and also
the vehicle contains many sensors, the data of the sensors also transform
to control room via server. These processes are finished within seconds
because it's Livestream to the control room.
Then, human operators can give correct instructions
and control the autonomous vehicle by using High-level command and
Low-level command.
-
With high-level commands, remote teleoperators give orders
directly by using the steering wheels, Pedals, Shifters in PC to the AV that regulate its behavior. These orders can include
direction commands like changing lanes, continuing driving straight,
slowing down to an accidental zone, etc. But the Autonomous Vehicle
decides for itself how to take the correct decision while driving
about performing the actual operations that facilitate the
commands.
-
Low-level
commands are more direct than high-level commands. The operators
deliver explicit instructions regarding how to facilitate the
operations, for example: steer 30 degrees left and accelerate speed
by 40%.
The vehicle received the command
within the seconds and travel in the correct path correctly. you did
easily understand the working of teleoperation vehicle by observing the

IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF TELEOPERATION AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES:
The most important aspects of the teleoperation
autonomous vehicles are
- Better Connectivity
- System Structure
BETTER CONNECTIVITY:
|
|
Connectivity is the important aspect that controls the entire AV teleoperation
system. The presentation of 4k video, audio and sensor data (like
speed) to the remote driver at the correct time is done only on high
speed, reliability, connectivity. Uninterrupted, high capacity, ultra-low latency connectivity
is a basic requirement for teleoperation.

|
If connectivity isn’t stable,
teleoperators will wait for receiving video and audio information to
render, which is simply complicated. Depending on the encoding
mechanism, high-quality video requires at the very least 4-10
megabits per second to function properly. The highly unstable,
dynamic nature of cellular networks makes quite weak performance on
driving teleoperation-Autonomous vehicles.
SYSTEM STRUCTURE:
|

|
The system structure is another important aspect of integrating teleoperation hardware
and software into a vehicle. Audio, visual, in-vehicle, and motion
data need to be captured from the vehicle’s sensors, cameras, and
systems. Control interfaces to handle steering, throttling and
braking should be applied. Advanced system architecture to develop
the interactions between hardware and software and ensure system
response times should be developed and integrated. The addition of
new hardware to deliver lower space, weight, and power that is key
to ensuring reduced cost and integration time.
APPLICATIONS OF TELEOPERATION AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES IN THE
VARIOUS FIELDS:
They are many applications for teleoperation vehicles in many
fields;
Aerospace:
It is used in Spacecraft assembly and maintenance and for the
exploration of satellites and planets.
Education & Training:
It is used in Manipulator training, experiments in remote laboratories,
museum guide autonomous robots, etc.
Metal processing:
It is used in forging plants and for handling large, hot metal
pieces.
Electronics:
In super-clean rooms and in toxic atmospheres.
Nuclear:
It is widely used in Hot-cell operations; inspection, rescue,
cleanup, and decontamination in emergency situations.
Medical:
It is also used in the medical field such as Operations, first-aid,
surgery lectures, home healthcare, rehabilitation.
CONCLUSION:
Teleoperation is widely used in many fields and it plays a major
role in the industrial world as well as in common man life.
